The disciples were terrified with Jesus right there in the boat.
So are our students. The lesson doesn't lecture about a 2,000-year-old boat trip — it lets a teenager step into the storm, name the emotion that's drowning them out, and meet a Jesus who both stills the sea and searches the heart. It ends not in a fairy tale, but in real stories and one small step home.
How a lesson runs
The Storm · 風暴動畫
Fable animationA short cinematic scene: a night sea, a rocking boat, and rain — every raindrop labelled with a teen emotion (壓力 · 焦慮 · 孤單 · 恐懼 · 憤怒 ·「我唔夠好」· 絕望). Lightning flashes, a still figure stands and speaks — the waves drop, the droplets dissolve, the sun breaks through.
🌊 Watch the storm become calmDiscover · 進入場景
DiscoverBoard the time-ship to the Sea of Galilee, c. AD 30. Read Mark 4:35–41 in full, plus a teacher's background panel on the lake's sudden squalls and why even fishermen feared them — held to a strict “text says / background says / don't invent” discipline.
📜 Read the passage & its worldDramatise · 選一個角色
DramatiseChoose a role. Three real Bible figures — Peter the terrified expert fisherman, the disciples who felt ignored (“Don't you care?”), the sleeping Jesus at perfect peace — or four invented HK teens: 阿希 (exam stress), 卡琳 (faking “I'm fine”), 阿Ben (“not into religion” — totally OK), 曉彤 (divorced parents, anger). Believer, doubter, or hostile: all are honestly welcome.
🎭 Step in — as anyone on the boatDiscuss · 即時投票
Discuss · live pollThe teacher hosts and projects; students join by room code or QR. Four questions at the story's turning points — including a live open-text one — with results revealed on the screen. Built by reusing the exact live-poll engine from the 9 July parents' night.
📊 Projector · room code · QR · revealDebrief · 返到你的世界
Debrief · real lifeThe time-ship returns to Hong Kong, 2026. Pick the emotion that's loudest in you, and meet real people who walked the same storm — real names, real links, some miraculous, some still wrestling. Then a non-coercive class decision: trust · curious · not-yet.

Extended homeworkCarry one thing home: a 7-day “Calm the Storm” devotion that deep-links into the Reclaim2K app, an AI song-writing prompt (Suno) built from the story, and a three-line reflection to hand back.
🌿 Devotion · a song · one small step🔒 The one rule that makes it safe to use AI on Scripture
The research was blunt: language models fabricate Bible verses — inventing quotes and citations that were never there. So this tool never lets AI write or paraphrase a verse. Every word of Scripture is retrieved verbatim from fixed, public-domain texts — 和合本 CUV for Chinese, World English Bible for English — with the reference shown. AI shapes the experience (the storm, the role-play, the discussion); it never touches the text.
14 real people, real links
Sourced to the same bar as Inspire to Aspire: every story is a named person from a mainstream Christian outlet, every link checked live. Heavier stories (suicide, self-harm) are flagged for teacher pre-framing. Anonymous “testimony” clips were deliberately excluded (cult-content risk).
黃醒玲《飄零少女》
Abandoned after her father died; years of “does anyone love me?” — healed, able to forgive.
宋祖駿《擺脫心牢籠》
Used gaming to escape stress — which deepened his depression — before finding a way out.
施仁傑・楊詠捷《覺醒的父親》
A teen who self-harmed amid bullying & depression; a distant father learned to listen — nine years of repair.
萬力豪《走出憂鬱谷》
From a depressed teen in and out of hospital to a youth pastor — “from psych ward to seminary.”
李利剛:走出抑鬱
A decade of depression, treatments failing, until faith began the change — and urges professional care too.
劉穗綾《天父的心》
Illness, debt, depression and heartbreak piled up; she found her feet again — and released the bitterness through art.
孫子喬《遇見祢真好》
Trauma from a father's chaos and a brother's depression; when she broke down, a prayer caught her in the moment.
顏金龍《連天使也羨慕》
After witnessing his mother's suicide he wanted to give up on life, then faced the pain and healed.
Kristen Anderson — Suicide, Interrupted
At 17 she lay on the tracks; a freight train passed over her and she survived — then faith, then a ministry.
Victoria Childress
Grew up in a broken home, cut words into her arm near suicide — then cried out to God and found healing.
Kirsten Haglund
Miss America; anorexia from age 12 chasing “thin is best,” then recovery and an identity re-rooted in faith.
Clint Gresham
A Super Bowl champion who found success empty, battling anxiety, depression and performance-based worth.
Josh Wilson — Past Anxiety
Mistook a panic attack for a heart attack; manages ongoing anxiety with prayer, Scripture, counselling and habits.
Ged Armstrong (TikTok)
Found fame and partying empty — “I used to cry because I was depressed; now I cry because I know the love of Jesus.”
Filterable in-game by emotion. One SOBEM 恩雨之聲 story (羅乃萱) was left out of the live links — sobem.org blocks automated checks, so it couldn't be machine-verified; a teacher can add it by hand.

Grounded in research
- Structure follows the validated 4D drama model (Discover · Dramatise · Discuss · Debrief).
- Role-play & “bibliodrama” are evidence-linked to empathy and retention.
- HK teen data drove the emotional focus (HKFYG 2024: 45% high stress).
- Faith framed as meaning & belonging — never coerced; sceptic and hostile stances are valid.
Honest notes
- A few emotions (exam/DSE stress, panic, victim-told bullying, anger) appear only as threads inside larger stories — tagged, not faked.
- Heavier testimonies are flagged 老師先預備 for teacher framing.
- Verses are hard-coded, public-domain, and citable — reviewed for an RS classroom.
- A teaching prototype — please review with your RS team before class.
Lesson 1 of three
This is the first of the three AI-Bible-lesson directions. Directions 2 and 3 are still open — tell me the stories or themes and I'll design them to the same standard: a Fable opening, hard-coded Scripture, real testimonies, live polling, and a devotion follow-up.
